Text 12 May 1 note Merida and the Dress

Oh man! I just realized that at the end of the Mother’s Day clip, Merida is wearing the dress she wears in the parks! I knew the imagineers didn’t just create a random dress for her out of the blue!

And here’s the belt thingy:

I know it’s not a big deal, but I felt so bad for her when everyone was going on and on about how much they hated her dress in the parks when she first popped up. I mean, come on, this is Disney/Pixar we’re talking about. Nothing is done without a good reason. It’s a pretty dress… and after seeing it here, I think it’s safe to say that it’s truly her dress. I’m excited to meet her : )

Photo 28 Apr 12 notes Oh gosh. Glad I’m not the only one…. imagine the cruel twist of fate when I showed up at casting for my first Disney College Program and wound up assigned to Dinoland…. I about freaked haha (though in the end I wound up in Diggs County USA with Chester and Hester, so I didn’t have to worry too much about the crazy scientists up at the Institute. Good times).

Text 27 Apr Cultivating Community

Trying out shapes and things…. everything seems so pretty to look at when it’s bendy and rounded haha

This is a character from a project I’m trying to work on… it’s been fun because there have been a lot of characters to design. I’ll have to upload some more. This girl in particular was inspired by this whole “Cultivating Community” series my library is doing right now… it’s a lot about plants, gardening, local produce, farmers markets… stuff like that. It’s pretty cool : )

Video 27 Apr 5 notes

I’m in love with this song (it actually has a pretty cool story! You can read it here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/30/mirror-mirror-song-i-believe-in-love_n_1387609.html) . And can I take a moment so say that all the costumes in this movie were GORGEOUS.

Text 25 Apr Puck

Finally got my photoshop back after SIX WEEKS. Decided to practice a little, and came up with:

mom: why does she have all that stuff on her face

me: it’s a dude.

This is Puck, looking admittedly girl-ish (it’s the makeup). Puck is a rockstar singer guy in a completely fictional band made up by my friends. He is a badass. Most of the time. He is also notoriously slow at doing anything like… oh, songwriting. Their manager is trying to get the band to model, but Puck is very much “oh hell no” about it. So, he had to be dragged to the studio for this picture. He isn’t too happy about it, hence the dazed, pretending-to-be-elsewhere look.

Secretly, he’s a chef!

Text 21 Mar Update: The Hunger Games

I went and completed the mural today! I about died of shock when I walked in the room, because it was one MASSIVE wall, and I was only one short girl. Thank goodness for ladders. So, here’s how it turned out (and sorry in advance for the weird lighting)!

It doesn’t look very tall in the picture, I suppose, but to put it into perspective, I’m 5’4” and I had to JUMP to reach the top of the Mockingjay’s wing. The whole circle is about four and a quarter feet from tip to tip.

Annnddd a super close-up of the Mockingjay:

I took picture of the little District seals as well, but they’re a little silly looking. They did look pretty cool altogether though!

Ohh!!! And my mom surprised me with tickets to the Midnight Premiere tomorrow!!! So excited : DDD

Text 19 Mar 5 notes Nail Time: Nightmare Before Christmas

My sister is a big Nightmare Before Christmas fan, so I did her nails for her…

((WARNING: really sloppy nail jobs + crappy camera pics!))

here’s jack’s side:

and sally’s side:

and Jack and Sally together : )

Jack’s eye got kinda messed up because it was done with one of those nail pens that don’t really make straight-up black. I think Sally is my favorite : )

Text 18 Mar 1 note Practice: Mockingjay

and a close up:

Practice for a big chalk drawing (and I mean BIG…  it’s a 12’ x 12’ chalk wall) I’m doing at the library this week to promote the Hunger Games movie release. I don’t really ever play with chalk, and I am deathly terrified of messing up the drawing when I do it for real (I’ve never drawn anything for this library before and don’t want my first time to be a disaster), so I drew a smaller version on the garage floor where the surface was smooth. The arrow is crooked and fat, and the circle’s kinda mushed, but it’s nothing a ruler won’t be able to fix when I do the large one. Overall, I was really happy with how the Mockingjay turned out : )

The plan is to do a big Mockingjay pin in the middle, with the District emblems running up either side of the wall, and “The Hunger Games” written on top, with “May the odds be ever in your favor” at the bottom. If all the stars are aligned and it turns out well, I’ll try to post pictures of the final drawing this week : )

Photo 5 Mar 28 notes bluefootednewt:

CAN WE ALL JUST TAKE A MOMENT TO APPRECIATE HER BEAUTY? JUST ONE MOMENT?

Merida is so pretty…. BUT AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO SEES THE SIZE OF HER EARS??? I think I’m just surprised because the hair always hides them…. GAH SHE’S GORGEOUS. [/utteramazementatpixaranimation]

Text 2 Mar Madonna

I was doing some warmups before drawing some dinos on the library’s books-to-go bags…. and Madonna happened to be playing on my pandora station. Strangeness ensued.
